Too Big For The Table? The Natural Healing Center Thinks So….

Laura Smith stopped into The Natural Healing Center for a massage (she had just completed a half marathon) but when she arrived she was told by the owner, " 'I'm really sorry, but you're just too fat for our table. You'll probably break [it] and have to pay for it."I'm really sorry, but you're just too fat for our table.  You'll probably break it, and have to pay for it."

When Smith later called back, she said she learned that the tables were designed to support up to 500 pounds. Penny Wells, the owner of the Natural Healing Center, later told Fox 31 in Denver that a table had recently broken under a 165-pound man, which is why she was worried about Smith.

Personally, I don't care if Ms. Smith had never run a race in her life.  I think it is fantastic that she did, and admire her success.  But, regardless, if she has never owned a pair of gym shoes, it is not right that she was denied a massage, and it is awful that she was treated in such a deplorable manner.
Ms. Smith is not letting anything stop her, " "But now [during] the moments that I don't want to go to the gym, I just think about the time somebody told me that I'm too fat to do something," she added. "I just think, 'I better get out of bed. I have another 5K to run.'"

Joan Rivers Slams Adele on Letterman

Joan Rivers has always talked trash, but her most recent victim is Adele.  I don't know how Joan Rivers got the green light to head Fashion Police, on E Entertainment. But, Joan's jabs did not focus on Adele's fashion, they focused on her figure, while making an appearance on David Letterman.

Through her many, not so veiled insults, and supported by Letterman's smirks, Joan showed to be relentless, " "What's her song? 'Rolling in the Deep'? She should add fried chicken."She went on to say, "I met Adele," making a puffed-up face and extending her arms out.

This kind of behavior is unacceptable, but unfortunately is all too common place.  Adele is a talented, beautiful woman, and does a fabulous job of representing women.  She is a positive role model and spokeswoman for curvy woman.  Shame on Joan for taking pop shots at her!

Bey v. PETA

Beyonce has taken another breath.  Somebody queue the outrage.

I shouldn't be so snarky.  However, Beyonce has commissioned designers at the custom shoe company, Perfectly Made Kicks, to design a sneaker for her made of animal skins.  And, as expected, the folks at PETA have pounced (probably, not the right expression here) on her for the move.  "She can always choose the cruelty-free and green fashion favored by compassionate, chic celebrities such as Natalie Portman and Anne Hathaway and designers such as award-winning fashion queen Stella McCartney," says an official of the animal rights group.

That's true.  Beyonce could use an animal-free alternative, and probably should.  But, the larger question is, when did become Natalie Portman chic?  I love her to pieces, and think she is a talented actress and most intelligent and charming, but anyone involved in "Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium" is on chic probation.  That includes you too, Dustin.

Robin Roberts.. Ahead of the Curve

There are some people in this world that everyone loves to hate, like Casey Anthony, Susan Smith, and sometimes even Lindsey Lohan.  But there are some people in this world that we couldn't hate even if we tried.

Enter Robin Roberts.  We know Robin Roberts as the poised anchor of the Good Morning America show (I should have added Matt Lauer to the most hated list above).  She is smart and funny and wildly insightful and intelligent.  She played college basketball on scholarship and earned a degree in communications from a very small southern school.  She's a southern belle--a native Mississippian who makes frequent visits back to visit her family and friends.

But don't let all that poise and class fool you.  She is an ass kicker.  A hardcore ass kicker.  In 2007, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and after eight chemotherapy sessions and six weeks of radiation, she destroyed it.

And then, Roberts was diagnosed with MDS, a myelodysplastic syndrome in 2011.  She received a bone marrow transplant in the fall of 2012, and now she is back on the set of Good Morning America, smiling and charming America.

Robin Roberts.  Breast Cancer survivor.  Mississippian.  Basketball player.  Journalist and ass kicker.  She is ahead of the curve.
