Tweet for Tat? Kenneth Cole Thinks So...

Kenneth Cole continues to make controversial tweets in the name of fashion and to...start a dialogue?

He tweeted on the potential war with Syria, ""Boots on the ground" or not, let's not forget about sandals, pumps and loafers"

When the designer responded to his latest manufactured controversy by stating that he intended to start a dialogue, he apparently meant “dialogue” as in “a conversation that will help promote my own company.”

In case you’ve forgotten, Cole’s brand is no stranger to puns written to offend on both the cultural and editorial levels. After 2011′s Egyptian uprising PR fail, he quickly issued a standard apology via social media (Patrick Coffee)

I am not quite sure what dialogue he is looking to start, but he certainly does get people's attention, but at what cost does tactless become tasteless? There are better ways to reach your market, Mr. Cole.

  1. Excellent insight, Cait ... Pretty unbelievable that it was him, by design (no pun intended!) and not some newbie or outside resource a la the Chrysler flap a year or two ago!
