Octavia Spencer is the Belle of the Ball!

While Octavia Spencer may have won an Oscar last night for her powerful performance on "The Help," she was the leading lady at the Oscar awards show with her fashion choice.

Here she is, with a tastefully, elegantly jazzy creme Tadashi Shoji gown.  Notice the sequin isn't over done.  It falls off her hips nicely, and the neckline is very flattering.  She wears the dress, not the other way around.
 

Congratulations to Octavia Spencer! Not only is she a gifted and talented actress, she also knows what works best to flatter her figure! Well done! I look forward to seeing what she wears next!

Zelda Kaplan...Living and Dying Doing What She Loved

We all hyperbole.  Especially about fashion.  I have been caught by my friends saying, "I would die for these shoes," or "I am so happy in this store.  Everything here fits me and looks fabulous on me.  I could just die here."

I say those things--only half serious--because like all of you, I love fashion.

Well,  she died doing exactly what she loved.  Fashion...

Zelda Kaplan. She has been a forever fixture in the world of fashion. At 95, she was still out there til the wee hours of the morning socializing and clubbing with friends. This spitfire had a love for live that few could rival and a dare I say, "passion for fashion" that most can only dream of.  She was vivacious, and fun. She was her own person, who was able to wed the love of fashion with the person that she was. 

Remember to channel a little Zelda Kaplan. Live life to its fullest, and celebrate the you, that is fashion!

Calling All Cupids...Valentine's Day Fashion

Okay ladies. Valentine's Day is sneaking up on us, and more than anything, this day of love is marred in cliches.

Either we are madly in love and all wrapped up in some David Beckham (didn't he look delicious in that Super Bowl ad?) looking guy, while our friends lament and complain about how much they never see us, or we are at home alone, bitter, sad and hating all things masculine and all things Valentine.

The clichés, done and redone in romantic comedies, have become clichés of themselves.

The fact is Valentine's Day is a time when we reflect and look at our love lives. Sometimes it's sad and lonesome and sometimes it's not at all.

This Valentine's Day, no matter what our romantic lives look like, rocking the right outfit can be empowering and make us feel great.

Hi all. It's game day, and what we wear on game day says a lot about us to others.  If we wear the wrong clothing, we appear to be people who can't let their hair down or be comfortable.  So here are my pics for game day:

My vote is to be both cute and comfortable, and blue works for both teams.  If you're going to suit up, wear the softest jersey.  Have fun and choose your team wisely!

Lady in Red...Show Stopping, and Heartfelt!

The color red. It's bold. It's daring. It's an attention grabber. When a city or town wants you to stop at an intersection, of course it posts a red stop sign. When a company wants you to notice its products or pay more attention to its advertising, it uses red font or red highlight. We give and receive red roses to get the attention of someone to whom we are attracted. When a guy want us to notice them (or at least their cars), they get red cars.

There is something about the color red in fashion, too. While it may be the color of romance and the color that accentuates curves, it is also very good at making us appear to others as attractive as we really are inside and out.

According to a scientific study, people--both men and women--find women who are wearing red more attractive. As if we needed another reason to find that red cocktail dress we keep in the back of the closet, today is the American Cancer Association's "Wear Red Day" to acknowledge that heart disease is the number one killer of women in this country, and to stand in solidarity with them, as we work to alleviate heart disease for all people.
